Olipa kerran kaksi prinsessaa/Once upon a time there were two princesses

Olipa kerran kaksi prinsessaa, jotka pitivät kauniista puvuista ja kaikesta kimaltelevasta. Eräänä päivänä he löysivät kirjastosta Lenée Gruen ja Line Wattin Prinsessakirjan. Sen jälkeen heidän äitinsä ei saanut hetkeäkään rauhaa ennen kuin uudet prinsessapuvut olivat valmiit. Vanhempi prinsessa halusi pinkin puvun ja nuorempi lilan. Näin tehtiin ja kun puvut viimein valmistuivat leikkivät prinsessat tyytyväisinä kotitalonsa puutarhassa. Myös äiti oli tyytyväinen ansaittuun lepohetkeen.

Once upon a time there were two princesses that loved beautiful dresses and everything that glitters. One day they found a Princess book of Lénee Grue and Line Watt (Danish, also availabe in Finnish and Swedish). After that day, their mother didn't get much sleep until the new princess dresses were ready. The older princess wanted to have a pink dress and the younger wanted to have a purple dress. So, everything was decided and planned. Finally, when the dresses were ready both princesses played happily in the garden  and they mother was happy to have a little pause to the sewing.

Tähdellinen hattu/Starry hat

Aina ei vain jaksa neuloa isoja juttuja vaan ihan vain pieniä ja nopeita töitä. Tässä helteessä en pysty tekemään muuta kuin puuvilla- tai bambulankaisia projekteja. Teinkin bambulangasta esikoiselle syksyksi tähdellisen pipon ja seuraavaksi pitäisi tehdä nuoremmalle tytölle samanlainen hattu.

Koristeeksi löysin ihanan virkatun perhosen Lesley Stanfieldin kirjasta Anna kaikkien kukkien kukkia.

There is a time to knit large and challenging projects and then there is a time to knit something little and simple. When the temperature rises above +30C like it has done over the past two weeks, the only yarns I can knit are bamboo and cotton. I made a hat to my oldest daughter from the bommix bamboo yarn. Next I need to knit another hat like this to my youngest daughter.

I found a perfect crocheted butterfly pattern from Lesley Stanfield's book 100 flowers to knit and crochet.

Tää on liian lyhyt/This is too short

Sain juuri valmiiksi toisen topin ja olin innoissani, että nyt molemmat tytöt saavat pitää samanlaisia kesätoppeja. Nuorin tyttöni veti topin päällensä, katsoi sen helmaa sekunnin ja sanoi "En pidä tätä. Tää on liian lyhyt." Se oli kyllä palkitseva hetki. Joitakin neuleita lapset tuskin malttavat odottaa, että ne valmistuisivat ja joidenkin kohdalla sitten käy näin. Toisaalta, tämä saattaa olla jonkun sukukaistytön toivetoppi, joten en ole vielä menettänyt toivoani. Kyllä tällekin neuleelle käyttäjä löytyy.

I just finished the second tropical lily top. I was very eager to see both of my girls with identical summer tops, but I was too hasty. My youngest girl tried the top, looked the hem of the top for a second and said " I don't wear this. This is too short." That was a rewarding moment for me. I have noticed that there are knits that my girls just can't wait to wear and then there are knits that will never become the favorite cloth. Then, this top could be somebody's dream. So, I have not lost my hope yet and I think that one day a little girl is going to have a wonderful summer cloth.

Yksi toppi valmiina, toinen puikoilla/One top ready, second on the needles

Sain pari päivää sitten valmiiksi kesätopin vanhemmalle tytölleni ja siitä tuli niin ihana, että päätin heti aloittaa toisen topin tekemisen nuoremmalle tytölleni. Jotenkin langasta ja topin mallista tulee mieleen lämmin kesä, jäätelö ja perhoset. Ei siis lainkaan hassumpaa kesätopille.

Lanka on puhdasta puuvillaa, joten varsinkin kiinnitysnauhoihin piti jättää kunnolla venymisvaraa.

I finished couples of days ago a summer top for my oldest daughter. It came out so lovely that I instantly decided to knit second top to my youngest daughter. The yarn and the pattern bring warm summer days, ice cream and butterflies to my mind. Not bad for a summer top.

The yarn is 100 % cotton, so I had to take into account that especially the straps are going to stretch a lot.

Tehdyt muutokset/Modifications made:

Nauhat: Käytin olkainten tekemiseen 7 silmukkaa, olkainten pituus 30 cm

Straps: I used 7 stitches, 30 cm long (I have not calculated the rows made)

Yläosan muotoilu: Tein aina kavennuskierrosten väliin 3 kierrosta sileää neulosta, jotta yläosasta tulisi näin ohkaisella langalla hieman pidempi.
Shaping of the bodice: I made extra 3 rows (1 purl row, 1 knit row and 1 purl row) between the decrease rows in order to get more length to the bodice.

Helmiä ja trooppinen toppi/Beads and tropical top

Innostuin pitkästä aikaa helmikorujen tekemisestä. Päätin tehdä kaverilleni uudet korut rikkoutuneiden tilalle. Väriksi valitsin lilan ja hopean, koska ne ovat sekä kaverini että itseni lempivärejä. Käytin korujen tekemiseen metallivaijeria ja toivon sen kestävän paremmin kuin aiemmin käyttämäni nylonlanka.

It has been a while since I last made jewelry. I decided to make a bracelet and a necklace to my friend. I had promised to make a new jewelry in order to replace the broken ones I had made earlier. I chose silver and burgundy for the main colors, because both me and my friend love these colors. This time I used beading wire instead of nylon yarn. I hope that this solution makes the bracelet and necklace last longer.

En voinut olla aloittamatta uutta neuletyötä ja niinpä aloin neuloa tytöille uusia kesätoppeja. Langaksi valikoitui puhdas puuvillalanka, Katia Bombay. Langassa on ihanat värit ja topin malli vaikuttaa hyvältä.

I couldn't be without knitting and I had to start a new project. I'm making a new summer tops for my girls. I chose Katia's bombay for this project for it's gorgeous colors and because it is 100 % cotton.

Bambulankatakit/Bamboo yarn cardigans

Lastenvaatteita on niin mukava neuloa, että tulin aloittaneeksi taas takit tytöille. Ensimmäisen takin tein ihan ohjeen mukaisesti alhaalta ylös, etu-ja takakappaleet erikseen. Toista takkia aloittaessani rohkeus riitti takin neulomiseen ylhäältä alas ilman saumoja. Lopputuloksesta en vielä ole varma, mutta koesovitusten perusteella takista näyttäisi tulevan juuri sopiva.

Ensimmäinen takki valmiina/First cardigan

It is always a pleasure to knit children's cloths and therefore I started once again to knit cardigans for my girls. I made the first cardigan according to the pattern instructions from down to top and front and back pieces separately. By the time I started the second cardigan I was confident enough to start the cardigan from top to down, without any seams. So far everything looks fine and I think that the cardigan will be perfect summer cloth to my daughter.

Testasin Ravelry:ssa Fishie:lle Bamboo -sukkaohjetta. Ohjetta oli helppo seurata, vaikka tämä oli ensimmäinen sukka, jota neuloin kärjestä varteen päin. Ei ollut vaikeata, vaikka aluksi siltä tuntuikin.

I tested the Bamboo sock pattern to Fishie in Ravelry's free test pattern group. The pattern was easy to follow even though this was the first toe-up sock I have ever made. The pattern was not difficult at all, but I have to admit that in the beginning I thought that I can't finish these.

Heti kun sain sukkaparin valmiiksi piti lankavarastoa täydentää uusilla lankoilla. Suuntasimme kaverini kanssa Ogelin liikekeskukseen Oulunkylään ja siellä Lankamaailma Nordiaan. Paikka oli neulojan unelma: Halli täynnä lankoja ja vielä enemmän lankoja. Ostin tyttöjen kesätakkeihin HjerteGarn:n Bommix Bamboo -lankaa ja ensi syksyn sukkiin Schoppel Wollen Cracy Zauerballin.

As soon as I had finished the Bamboo socks I felt that I had to fill in my yarn stock. Me and my friend headed towards the Lankamaailma Nordia in the shopping center of Ogeli.The yarn shop was like a knitter's dream come true: a big hall full of yarns. I bought HjerteGarn's Bommix Bamboo yarn for girls summer cardigans and one skein of Schoppel Wolle's Crazy Zauerball for socks.
